Many houses of worship recognize the moral call to protect public health and to reduce pollution emissions leading to climate change. However, not all congregations can respond fully because of financial constraints.
Here are two FREE resources that congregations can take advantage of right now, that assist both their facilities and members:
1. Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) Direct Install Program provides a free water and energy assessment of your facility(ies) and free energy and water upgrades. Your congregation and affiliated school can receive thousands of dollars in upgrades that will lower your energy costs and free up finances for your ministries;
2. The Low-Income Weatherization Program offers a free water and energy assessment to regionally-and income-qualified households. This program is state-wide and is an extremely easy step for your members who are looking to lower their emissions and energy costs, freeing up finances for family expenses such as rent, food and clothing.
