Green The Church Virtual National Summit, begins this Sunday, October 10th and will continue through Wednesday, October 13th. Green the Church works at the intersection of the Black Church and the environmental movement.
This year’s Summit theme is Green Lessons from Black Wall Street, which focuses on a call to action for the Black Church to address the need for infrastructure, agriculture, energy, and equity, elements that protect health, build wealth, and bring resources back into our communities.
Speakers include IPL Board Chair, Rev. Dr. Gerald L. Durley, an esteemed figure in both the Civil Rights and Ecological Justice movements, who is serving as the Honorary Chair for the Summit; Veronica Kyle, retired Statewide Outreach Director at Faith in Place (IL IPL), Adjunct Professor and Co-Founder of the EcoWomanist institute, Chicago IL, is the Green Team Summit Honoree; Rev. Michael Malcolm, Executive Director of Alabama IPL and founder and Executive Director of The People’s Justice Council; and Susannah Tuttle, Director at North Carolina IPL.
Green the Church is headed by Rev. Dr. Ambrose Carroll, pastor of Church by the Side of the Road in Berkeley, and a CIPL Steering Committee member. His passion for creating a sustainable planet is exemplary, and his preaching is inspirational.
