Low Emissions Vehicles Green Buildings

You will be pleasantly surprised when you see the energy saving and low emissions vehicles that are currently available at your local automobile dealers. In addition to hybrid vehicles, consumers today have many available options for low through zero emission vehicles.

Follow the links below to find a vehicle that fits your needs and lifestyle - and is easy on the environment.

California Air Resources Board's (ARB) Drive Clean Site
http://www.driveclean.ca.gov
This provides information on cleaner technology cars, news, and contains a "vehicle search" function. Search for the cleanest gas cars to get a list with pictures and descriptions of the vehicles.

2004 California Certified Vehicles
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/ccvl/2004ccvl.htm
Look at the "reference" column on the right edge of the page to see relative emissions compared to a LEV standard (lower emission vehicle, every passenger car has to meet this standard).

A List of the Cleanest Cars is here:
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/ccvl/2004sulevpzevlist.htm
(zero emission vehicles and partial ZEVs).

The List of 2005 ZEVs and PZEVs
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/ccvl/2005sulevpzevlist.htm
The 2005 Prius is not on this list because manufacturers can certify for more than one year if they make no engineering changes. Therefore, please check the links for both 2004 and 2005.

What Is Green Building?
Green building is a "Whole-Systems" approach for designing and constructing buildings that conserve energy, water, and material resources and are healthier, safer, and more comfortable.

In practical terms, green building includes:

Using sun & wind to the building's advantage for natural heating, cooling, & daylighting
Landscaping with native plants & using water efficiently
Building quality, durable structures
Insulating well & ventilating appropriately
Incorporating salvaged, recycled, & sustainably harvested materials
Maintaining healthy indoor air quality with appropriate building techniques & materials
Using energy-efficient & water-saving appliances & fixtures
Reducing & recycling construction waste
