Happy Holidays from CIPL!

GREAT NEWS: we have added some new holiday items for our congregations on the CIPL site! Simply log on to our site and under Hot Topics you will find:

1) Holiday Packets
Thanks to the marvelous idea of Georgia IPL, we in California have developed two holiday packets for use in our congregations. Please download and have a look through our Advent and Hanukkah packets! We hope to expand to more faith traditions next holiday season, so please e-mail us your thoughts and feedback.

2) Energy Saving LED Holiday Light Sales
Please think about purchasing energy saving LED Holiday lights through our online agreement with the commercial distributor Christmas Treasures. For every strand of lights you purchase, Christmas Treasures will donate 10% of the total cost to CIPL! Please make sure to put CIPL in the online order form, either in the Coupon Code section or the Notes/Commentary section. Strands start at $15.95, and last 50,000 hours outdoors and TWICE as long indoors. Happy shopping!

For more information on LED Lights/technology click here (courtesy of Western Area Power Energy Services): LED Light Fact Sheet.

Please click here to find out where you can Recycle Your Christmas Tree. Be sure to check in the left-hand toolbar for other holiday ideas!

SOLAR! Can We Take the Next Step?

CIPL has been approached by Occidental Power, a solar installation company with an innovative idea on how non-profits can more easily afford and install a system. Many of our congregations initially express interest in installing solar, but are deterred by the enormous upfront cost of installation. Occidental may have a means by which CIPL members can get around this initial financial burden. PLEASE contact Jessica if this possibility interests you! We are still in the early planning stages of this project, but we would like to get a 'feel' of how many of you may be interested in exploring this with us. Please call in with any initial questions you may have: 510-444-4078 x319.

Zogby Post-Election Poll: The Power of Global Warming

"Half of Americans who voted in the mid-term elections said concern about global warming made a difference in who they voted for on Election Day 2006," according to a recent Zogby International survey.

UN Secretary General Announces 'Nairobi Framework' as Climate Conference Closes

"Global climate change must take its place alongside the threats of conflict, poverty and proliferation of deadly weapons that have traditionally monopolized first-order political attention," Secretary General Annan stated Wednesday, upon launching the Nairobi Framework. The initiative aims to aid developing countries participate in the Kyoto Protocol's Clean Development Mechanism.

The Stern Review: The Economics of Climate Change
